Morning Worship 02/25/18                   9:30 am

Worship Theme:  “Our God of Hope”

Are there any among the false gods of the nations that can bring rain?

Or can the heavens give showers?  Are You not He, O Lord our God?

We set our hope on You, for You do all these things.

Jeremiah 14:22

Music for Preparation                                                                9:20a.m.

We Gather In Praise

Approaching with Gladness                                            Psalm 146:1-10

Leader:  Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul!  I will praise the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.

People:  Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation. When his breath departs, he returns to the earth; on that very day his plans perish.

Leader:  Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God,
who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them,

People:  Who keeps faith forever; who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry.

Leader:  The Lord sets the prisoners free; The Lord opens the eyes of the blind.

People:  The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down; The Lord loves the righteous.

Leader:  The Lord watches over the sojourners; He upholds the widow and the fatherless, but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin.

People:  The Lord will reign forever, your God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise the Lord!

Rejoicing in Our Christ                                           “Jesus Shall Reign”

Jesus shall reign where’er the sun
Does his successive journeys run
His kingdom stretch from shore to shore

Till suns shall rise and set no more

Blessings abound where'er He reigns

The prisoner leaps to lose his chains

The weary find eternal rest
And all the sons of want are blessed

To our King be highest praise

Rising through eternal days
Just and faithful - He shall reign

 Jesus shall reign

People and realms of every tongue

Dwell on His love with sweetest song

And infant voices shall proclaim
Their early praises to His Name

To our King be highest praise

Rising through eternal days
Just and faithful - He shall reign

 Jesus shall reign

Let every creature rise and bring

Blessing and honour to our King

Angels descend with songs again

And earth repeat the loud amen!

To our King be highest praise

Rising through eternal days
Just and faithful - He shall reign

 Jesus shall reign

Acknowledging His Reign in Our Lives                               Jonah 2:7,8

When my life was fainting away, I remembered the Lord, and my prayer came to You, into Your holy temple.  Those who pay regard to vain idols forsake their hope of steadfast love.

Resting in Our Reconciliation                                                  Jonah 2:9

But I with the voice of thanksgiving will sacrifice to You;

what I have vowed I will pay. Salvation belongs to the Lord!”

Rejoicing in Our Savior                                               “The Solid Rock”

My hope is built on nothing less

Than Jesus' blood and righteousness

I dare not trust the sweetest frame

But wholly lean on Jesus' name

On Christ, the solid rock, I stand

All other ground is sinking sand

All other ground is sinking sand

When darkness veils his lovely face

I rest on his unchanging grace

In every high and stormy gale

My anchor holds within the veil

On Christ, the solid rock, I stand

All other ground is sinking sand

All other ground is sinking sand

His oath, his covenant, his blood

Support me in the whelming flood

When all around my soul gives way

He then is all my hope and stay

On Christ, the solid rock, I stand

All other ground is sinking sand

All other ground is sinking sand

When he shall come with trumpet sound

O may I then in him be found

Dressed in his righteousness alone

Faultless to stand before the throne

On Christ, the solid rock, I stand

All other ground is sinking sand

All other ground is sinking sand

We Express Our Need in Prayer                                        Psalm 62:5-8

For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from Him.

He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock,

 my refuge is God. Trust in Him at all times, O people;

pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.

We Give Thanks for His Provision                           1 Timothy 6:17-19

As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty,

nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God,

who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.  They are to do good,

to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future,

so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.

Rejoicing in His Care                       “I’ll Not Be Shaken (Psalm 62)”

For God alone, I wait in silence

My soul is still before the Lord

He is my rock and my salvation

My fortress strong; I trust in Him

I’ll not be shaken! I’ll not be shaken

For all my hope is in His love

From God alone comes my salvation

I wait and trust His steadfast love!

Put not your hope in gain of riches

Seek not your rest in empty wealth

The rich are weak; the poor are mighty

Who turn to God alone for help

Pour out your heart to God our refuge

And trust in Him to hear you cry

No other hope will never fail you

No other love will not run dry

Sharing in the Grace of Jesus with One Another

“In Christ Alone”

In Christ alone, my hope is found

He is my light, my strength, my song

This Cornerstone, this solid ground

Firm through the fiercest drought and storm

What heights of love, what depths of peace

When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!

My Comforter, my all in all

Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh

Fullness of God in helpless Babe

This gift of love and righteousness

Scorned by the ones He came to save

'Til on that cross, as Jesus died

The wrath of God was satisfied

For ev'ry sin on Him was laid

Here in the death of Christ I live

There in the ground His body lay

Light of the world by darkness slain

Then bursting forth in glorious day

Up from the grave He rose again!

And as He stands in victory

Sin's curse has lost its grip on me

For I am His, and He is mine

Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life, no fear in death

This is the pow'r of Christ in me

From life's first cry to final breath

Jesus commands my destiny

No pow'r of hell, no scheme of man

Can ever pluck me from His hand

'Til He returns or calls me home

Here in the pow'r of Christ I'll stand

We Live In Anticipation Of Our Hope

John 14:1-3

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me.  In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to Myself, that where I am you may be also.

Our Greatest Hope                                   “On Jordan’s Stormy Banks”

On Jordan's stormy banks I stand

And cast a wishful eye

To Canaan's fair and happy land

Where my possessions lie

All o'er those wide extended plains

Shines one eternal day

There God, the Son forever reigns

And scatters night away

[Men] I am bound [Women echo]

[Men] I am bound [Women echo]

I am bound for the Promised Land

No chilling winds nor poisonous breath

Can reach that healthful shore

Sickness, sorrow, pain and death

Are felt and feared no more

When shall I reach that happy place

And be forever blessed

When shall I see my Father's face

And in his bosom rest
